Quiet places in New York City

There is a vibrancy and energy in New York that is unmistakeable and addictive. But it's also nice to find a quiet spot occasionally. I really liked Bryant Park, a little park in 42nd street, behind the New York Public Library.

Writer's Block installation at Bryant Park

Writer's Block, an installation by Sheryl Oring, displayed in Bryant Park. The installation had previously been shown in Berlin and Budapest and seeks to depict issues of censorship and free expression by taking away the writer's tool.

There was something eerie about coming to New York for the launch of the latest in high-tech software, and finding on my first day an installation of old typewriters.
